1. Who we are

Owlet is an education platform run by the Owlet team. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who can see it, how we protect it and how you control it. Contact: support@getowlet.com.

2. Data we collect

Account: name, e-mail, password (stored hashed, nobody can read it), phone, city and country.

For students: date of birth, school, grade and parent details (name, phone, e-mail).

Learning activity: submitted work, grades, attendance, notes, flashcards, course chat and questions.

Files: profile photos, homework papers, course materials, recordings and teachers' verification documents.

Teachers' payment data: transfer receipts, amounts and invoices (we do not store card details).

WhatsApp: if you message our number we keep your number, display name, your messages, pictures or files you send, and the bot's replies to answer you and link you to your account; Meta handles the messages under its own policy.

Technical data: IP address, device type, sign-in country and sign-in history, for security and to prevent account sharing.

3. Why we use it

To run accounts, courses, marking and reports; to contact you (notifications and e-mail); to protect the platform from abuse and break-ins; and to manage subscriptions and invoices. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

4. Who can see your data

A teacher sees the students of their courses, their work, grades and attendance. A parent sees their child's progress (attendance, grades, homework, fees). An assistant sees only what the teacher allows. Classmates may see your first name on the leaderboard unless you hide yourself. The platform team accesses data only for support and security, and every access is logged.

5. Services we rely on

We use trusted infrastructure providers: Supabase (database and sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting, file storage and protection), Resend (e-mail) and Google Gemini (only when you use AI features: the text of your question is sent to generate the answer). Data may be processed in countries outside your own.

6. Children

Students may be under 18. We ask for a parent's details at sign-up, and a parent can follow their child and ask us to delete the account at any time. We show no ads and do not track children for marketing.

7. Security

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, files are opened with short-lived links, backups are encrypted, access between teachers and students is strictly separated, administrator actions are logged, and two-step verification is available for teachers and administrators. No system is 100% safe; if a breach affects your data we will tell you.

8. Your rights

At any time you can download a copy of your data from your account settings, correct your details, and delete your account permanently (everything in it is erased). For any other request write to support@getowlet.com.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account its data and files are erased at once; encrypted backups may remain for up to 14 days and are then overwritten. WhatsApp messages are kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically.

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies only: your sign-in session, language, a device identifier (to prevent sharing a student account) and security settings. No advertising or tracking cookies.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date is shown at the top, and we will notify you of any material change.
